Dr. Philip J. Langlais |
210 Koch Hall Dr. Langlais joined the Office of Graduate Studies in August 2003, after 16 years at San Diego State University and UCSD, School of Medicine. Dr. Langlais' responsibilities include multi- and interdisciplinary research and graduate programs; the research infrastructure and inter-institutional collaborations required to support faculty and graduate development; and corporate and community partnerships. |

Dr. Brenda Neumon Lewis |
210 Koch Hall After a five-year separation from the university, Dr. Brenda Neumon Lewis returned in 2004 as the Assistant Vice President for Graduate Studies. In this role, she supports the mission to enhance graduate education at ODU. She deals with student issues and concerns, and provides leadership and oversight for the graduate continuance process, which includes issues of probation, suspension, and reinstatement. Dr. Lewis is also responsible for the development and updating of the Graduate catalog, which includes the on-going review of requests for program, curricular, and course changes. Aside from these duties, she conducts the university bi-annual graduate administrators' workshop, supervises graduate faculty certification and serves as an advocate for graduate students. Last year, Dr. Lewis served as the university coordinator for the National Research Council's National Survey of Research Doctoral Programs. Dr. Lewis has worked at several institutions of higher education across the country and previously served as the head of the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies and Acting Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Letters at ODU. |
