Charles E. Beaver is senior vice president of Burr Computer Environments, Inc., a construction management engineering firm begun in 1988. He has been with Burr for the last 14 years, previously working in the electrical industry for more than 25 years as project manager, estimator and purchasing agent.
Beaver attended the University of Virginia from 1958 to 1961 but interrupted his studies. He resumed his college studies at Old Dominion in 1969, taking night classes and summer courses to complete his degree. He graduated in 1976 from Old Dominion University with a bachelor of science in business administration.
He is extensively involved in philanthropic activities, both personally and professionally. Recipients of his charitable giving include the Coastal Conservation Association, Salvation Army, Goodwill Industries, Muscular Dystrophy Association, United Cerebral Palsy, the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, Oklahoma State University and several veterans' groups.
Born in Norfolk, Beaver married Joan Kirby and the couple will celebrate 41 years of marriage in November 2004. They have two sons, Chip and Mike, and four grandchildren.
