Enrollment Matters Vol. 1:
Financial Aid Updates

Financial Aid Priority Deadline for the 2009-10 Academic Year:  Feb. 15, 2009

It is time to begin planning for the next academic year, 2009-10.  This means it is FAFSA filing time.  Information pertaining to aid application can be found at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  Students may begin completing the FAFSA for 2009-10 after Jan. 1, 2009. It is strongly recommend to use the online FAFSA application for a faster turn-around time.  Old Dominion University's Federal School Code is 003728.

Aid for the 2008-09 Academic Year:  It's Not Too Late

Continuing students may be eligible for a Pell Grant and/or a Federal Direct Student Loan.  Information pertaining to aid application can be found at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Financial Aid Packaging Philosophy

Financial aid is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.  The Expected Family Contribution (EFC) that is calculated when you file your FAFSA is the determining factor for need-based aid eligibility.

Impact of Academic Performance on Aid

Academic history is reviewed for all students applying for financial aid.  Failure to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) will result in cancellation of aid.  Three conditions must be met in order to maintain financial aid eligibility at Old Dominion University:  Quantitative measure - percent of credit hours attempted; Allowable Time - maximum allowable time to be eligible for most financial aid programs; Qualitative measure - GPA and hours earned.
