Academic Advising and Career Planning

Advising Plan for First-Year CME Students  Advisors meet with CME students three to four times each semester to guide them through tools designed to help them make academic and career choices.

Initial Meeting:  Advisors use this time to learn about a student and his or her interests so they can assist the student in the exploration of a career and a major.

Decision-Making Workshop:  This workshop, which is required for all CME students, is designed to students to set learning objectives for themselves, and provide them with additional resources that will help them make sound choices in a major and career.

Follow-Up Meeting:  Discussions center on how the students choose a major and prepare for registration.

The Internship/Co-op/Major Exploration Fair
For the second year, University College will host this fair, which brings employers and the academic colleges together in Webb Center for a one-stop-shop, where students can explore opportunities for practical experience in their chosen fields, and learn about majors that employers expect for certain fields.  The fair is scheduled for January 29, 2009.
