Checklist & Timeline for August Graduation Candidates

Students who will complete their requirements and graduate in August should attend the May commencement ceremony. This checklist is based on attendance at the May ceremony.

January

  • Students who have completed a minimum of 102 credits with a 1.95 or higher GPA who wish to graduate in May must apply for graduation with the Registrar's Office. 
  • Meet with your academic advisor to plan your final semester's schedule and review important deadlines and procedures.

February

  • Complete your Application for Graduation no later than February 28.
  • Check your graduation status on LEO Online. Your graduation status should be set as "Pending."
  • Attend the Graduation Fair at the ODU Bookstore in Webb University Center
    • Purchase regalia (cap, gown, hood & tassel)
    • Order class ring (if desired)
    • Order graduation announcements (if desired)
    • Purchase diploma frame (if desired)

March

  • Complete the Commencement Participation Form before the prescribed deadline. (See Graduating Student Information for exact date)
  • Ensure your permanent (home) address is up-to-date on LEO Online. This is where your diploma is mailed after graduation.
  • Check LEO Online for any holds on your record and take action to have them removed. Diplomas and transcripts are not released for students with holds on their accounts.

April

May

  • Review the Commencement Instructions PDF prior to the Friday before commencement.
  • Arrive at the registration and robing area in South Cafeteria of Webb University Center no later than 45 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony.

October (following your graduation and commencement)

  • Your diploma should arrive at the permanent address you had on file with the Registrar's Office at the time of your graduation.
