Guidance on Leave Use

Classified employees who wish to participate in Community Care Day may use paid leave as outlined in the School Assistance and Volunteer Service Leave Policy 4.40. Community Care Day meets the qualifications for use of volunteer service leave. Employees who have exhausted their 16 hours of volunteer service leave may use accrued annual, personal, compensatory, overtime, or recognition leave. Requests for leave require employees to obtain supervisor's approval in advance and to record time on the Leave Activity Report Form (LARF).

Hourly employees do not have any paid leave.Therefore, hourly employees who volunteer on Community Care Day are not eligible for pay for time worked during this event.

Administrative and professional faculty who would like to participate must coordinate with their supervisor to flex their work schedule.

Teaching faculty may participate as their teaching schedules permit.
