Katherine A. Treherne, M.D.

Katherine A. Treherne, M.D.Dr. Katherine Treherne was appointed to the Board of Visitors July 1, 2003, and was reappointed to a second four-year term on July 1, 2007. She currently serves as Vice Chair of the Student Advancement Committee and as a member of the Academic & Research Advancement and Audit Committees. She is a board certified Dermatologist in private practice, with offices in Norfolk and Hampton, Virginia.

Dr. Treherne is a graduate of Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, where she received her M.D. degree in 1980. She did her Dermatologic training at Howard University Hospital before moving to the Tidewater area in 1985.

Dr. Treherne has served as president of the Tidewater Dermatological Society (1994-95) and President of the National Medical Association-Dermatology section (1993-1995). She was also named to Who's Who of Outstanding Healthcare Professionals in 1998.

Dr. Treherne was awarded the SIMBA Communications Award for community service in 1996. She is a past president of the Friends of Hampton Roads and is currently the immediate past president of the Norfolk Chapter of the Links, Inc.

Dr. Treherne serves as a mentor for pre-med students at Hampton University, Attending Physician in Dermatology for Family Practice Residents at Riverside Hospital and Portsmouth Family Medicine. She serves on the Physician Advisory Board of Galderma Pharmaceuticals and she is an Honorary Fellow of the Skin Cancer Foundation. She has appeared in two national commercials for the Oil of Olay Division of Proctor and Gamble.

Dr. Treherne and her husband Robert reside in Chesapeake, Virginia.
