Moody E. "Sonny" Stallings, Jr.
Mr. Moody "Sonny" Stallings was appointed to the Board of Visitors July 1, 2002 and was reappointed to a second four-year term on July 1, 2006. He currently serves as Chair of the Audit Committee and as a member of the Academic & Research Advancement and Student Advancement Committees. Mr. Stallings is an attorney and Partner in the law firm of Stallings & Bischoff, P.C. in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Mr. Stallings received a Bachelor's degree in Political Sciences in 1972 from Old Dominion University, and his J.D. in 1977 from The T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond.
After having served in the U.S. Marine Corps with a tour in Viet Nam in 1969 and while attending Old Dominion University, Mr. Stallings served as a Police Officer for the City of Virginia Beach in 1975. Upon received his law degree, he served as Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney from 1977 to 1979. His current law firm was established in 1979.
Mr. Stallings served as Virginia Game Commissioner from 1985 to 1987, and in 1987 was elected to the Virginia State Senate, serving a four-year term until 1991. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, and the Disabled American Veterans.
Mr. Stallings and his wife Joan reside in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
