The Honorable Ross A. Mugler
The Honorable Ross Mugler was appointed to the Board of Visitors July 1, 2002 and was reappointed for a second four-year term on July 1, 2006. He served as Secretary of the Board from 2003-2004 and Vice Rector from 2005-2006. He currently serves as Chairperson of the Institutional Advancement Committee and is a member of the Executive and Administration & Finance Committees. Mr. Mugler is Commissioner of the Revenue for the City of Hampton, Virginia, a position he has held since 1992.
Mr. Mugler received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Old Dominion University in 1984 and his Master’s degree in Public Administration from ODU in 2003. He became certified as Commissioner of the Revenue through the Center for Public Service at the University of Virginia.
Mr. Mugler is very active in the Hampton Roads community. He is presently chairing the Capital Campaign for the expansion of the American Theatre and is President of the Hampton Roads Commissioners of the Revenue Association. He is Chairman of the Education Foundation at Thomas Nelson Community College. He serves as a member of other various boards, which include the Board of Directors for the Hampton Education Foundation, the Peninsula Command
of the Salvation Army, the Volunteer Center of the Peninsula, and the Hampton Roads Regional Board of the Sorenson Institute for Political Leadership.
Some of his past highlights include service on the Virginia Commission on State/Local Government Responsibility and Taxing Authority and the Executive Board of the Virginia Peninsula Economic Development Council. He is a past Charter President of the Downtown Hampton Kiwanis Club.
Mr. Mugler and his wife, The Honorable Martha Mugler, reside in Hampton, Virginia, with their two children, Will and Anne-Logan.
