David W. Faeder
Mr. David Faeder was appointed to the Board of Visitors July 1, 2003, and was reappointed to a second four-year term on July 1, 2007.. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Administration & Finance Committee and as a member of the Institutional Advancement Committee.
He is a founding member and managing partner of Fountain Square Properties, LLC, a diversified real estate company. Prior to the formation of Fountain Square, Mr. Faeder served as President and Vice Chairman of Sunrise Senior Living, Inc. (SRZ: NYSE). Prior to joining Sunrise, Mr. Faeder was an officer of Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse First Boston focusing on real estate investment banking.
Mr. Faeder currently sits on the Board of Trustees of Federal Realty Investment Trust (FRT: NYSE), one of the leading retail REITs in the country, where he chairs the audit committee and is the designated financial expert. Mr. Faeder joined the Federal Realty Board in March, 2003.
In the past he as served on the Board of Associates of the University of Richmond, as a member of the Jefferson Scholarship selection committee at the University of Virginia, as a trustee of the Old Dominion University Educational Foundation, and as a member of the Board of Directors of Vista Care (Nasdaq: VSTA) a national provider of hospice care, where he chaired the Investment Committee. He currently serves on the metro Board of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and was the previous chairman of the US Capital Chapter of the Young President's Organization.
Mr. Faeder received his Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration from Old Dominion University in 1978, and in 2000 received the Outstanding Alumni Award. He received his MBA, with honors, in 1984 from the Colgate Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia. He earned his CPA in 1981.
Mr. Faeder and his wife Rebecca reside in Vienna, Virginia.
