Loughton Selected To All-Academic Team
Sophomore center/forward Alex Loughton (Perth, Australia) was selected to the second annual Division I-AAA Athletic Directors Association Scholar-Athlete Team. Basketball players from All-Division I-AAA ADA-member institutions with a minimum 3.2 grade point average were eligible for the award .
Loughton, who averaged 16.6 points and 8.7 rebounds per game in his second year as a Monarch, carries a 3.29 GPA in business. He also earned first-team All-CAA and NABC All-District honors, and was selected to the CAA All-Academic and All-Defensive squads.
Field Hockey Players Named To National Academic Squad
Ten members of the ODU womens field hockey team were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad. Student-athletes selected for the team had a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 through the first semester of the 2003-04 academic year.
Senior Angie Loy, of Loysville, Pa., became the third Lady Monarch to earn national academic honors throughout her four-year career. A physical education major, she was the 2003 CAA Player of the Year and a member of the 2004 U.S. National Team.
Former Tennis Star Introduces Designer Label
Delphine Priest ’93 (M.B.A. ’94), CAA Player of the Year in women’s tennis in 1994, is now becoming a player in the fashion industry.
Established in 2002, her DELPHINE designer label can now be found at Neiman Marcus and luxury boutiques nationwide. One of her tweed suits was featured on the cover of Womens Wear Daily in April.
The DELPHINE collection consists of couture separates, all using the finest European fabrics and embroideries.
Clothes should feel unique and most of all personal, she says on her Web site, www.delphine.cc. Thats why so many of my clothes are hand-finished and embroidered. My clothes are about individuality and originality.
