Faculty Honored At Awards Banquet

Several faculty members, including four who are retiring after long and distinguished careers at Old Dominion, were honored in May at the annual Faculty Awards and Retirement Dinner.
Among this year’s award winners are:
Ravindra P. Joshi, professor of electrical and computer engineering, the A. Rufus Tonelson Faculty Award.
Gail S. Taylor, associate professor of educational curriculum and instruction, and Kathie Zimbro, adjunct associate professor of nursing, TELETECHNET Faculty of the Year Awards.
Mary E. Hing-Hickman, adjunct instructor of physics, the Armada Hoffler Weekend College Teaching Award.
Berhanu Mengistu, professor of urban studies and public administration, and Lytton J. Musselman, Mary Payne Hogan Professor of Botany and chair of biological sciences, Provost’s Awards for Leadership in International Education.
Donald Zeigler, professor of political science and geography, and Guoqing Zhou, assistant professor of engineering technology, Instructional Technology Awards.

Retiring faculty and the years they joined ODU are:
Maurice R. Berube, eminent scholar of educational leadership and counseling, 1979.
Glynn D. Coates, professor of psychology, 1974.
Willard C. Frank Jr., associate professor of history, 1963.
Murray Rudisill, professor of educational curriculum and instruction and men’s golf coach, 1972.
