Fond memories of favorite professors and the Norfolk Division
Thank you for publishing my tribute to the late Dr. Grant Meade of the political science department ["My Favorite Professor," winter 2001].
The other writers in the series also brought back some good, but half-forgotten memories of people, places and events at ODU some 25 years ago.
I always enjoy Old Dominion University magazine whenever it appears in my mailbox. Thanks again!

I received your latest slick alumni magazine and I had to write.
I started in 1943 at the "Division," where I had a scholarship - first for one year and renewed for the second. While a student, I was active in the Student Senate and played basketball. In those years we played service teams and once went to Williamsburg, where we beat the socks off the William and Mary J.V.s. We played on a men's-size court and they used a women's-size court.
There were only about 200 students in the Norfolk Division at the time, so we were small time. (I was a terrible basketball player, so I was promoted to manager.)
Also, I taught extension classes two summers for Old Dominion in Newport News.
