ODU at the NIT
Valdas Vasylius experiences Michigan’s smothering defense at Madison Square Garden in the Monarchs’ 66-43 semifinal loss in the National Invitation Tournament. Although ODU was not able to defend its conference title from a year ago, the Monarchs made the most of their NIT bid, which included avenging two regular-season losses to Hofstra by beating the Pride on their home court in the quarterfinals. ODU finished the year with a 24-10 record. The women’s team continued its domination in the CAA despite losing three key players to early season-ending injuries, winning a 15th straight conference crown. The Lady Monarchs (21-9) hosted two rounds of the NCAA tournament, but lost their first-round game to George Washington University.
