Nurse Alumni Chapter chartered
More than 150 School of Nursing graduates, students and faculty gathered on campus Oct. 18 for the chartering of the newly formed Nurse Alumni Chapter. The festivities concluded with a dinner sponsored by the chapter and the Epsilon Chi chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International. Linda Davis ’70, a former chair of the school and current professor of nursing and senior scientist at the University of Alabama-Birmingham Center for Aging, was the featured speaker.

Among those attending the Nurse Alumni Chapter chartering ceremony were Richardean Benjamin, chair of the School of Nursing; Susan Murray ’73 (M.S. ’81) and Micah Scott ’90, lecturers in the nursing school and co-directors of the chapter; Karen Karlowicz, assistant professor of nursing; Lauren L. Conner ’79, president-elect of the Alumni Association; and Andrew Balas, dean of the College of Health Sciences.

Alumni golf tourney tees off on April 22
Come tee off at the Alumni Association’s annual golf tournament April 22 at the Riverfront Golf Club in Suffolk. The Alumni Association is still accepting foursomes and sponsors.

Communications Chapter honors grads
The Communications Alumni Chapter honored recent graduates of the communication and theatre arts department Dec. 2. Bill Holloran Jr. ’85 was the featured speaker. He is vice president for strategic planning at The Atlantic Group, a specialty contractor to the electric utility industry.

Holloran, an active member of the Hampton Roads community, also serves as vice chairman of small business for the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce board of directors, chairman of the Hampton Business Incentives Corp. and board member of the Small Business Development Center of Hampton Roads Inc.

Alumni Association launches newsletter
True Blue, the Old Dominion University Alumni Association quarterly newsletter, launched in December with the inaugural issue going to 20,000 alumni nationwide.

A companion piece to Old Dominion University magazine, True Blue is designed to further enhance the Alumni Association’s communication tools, reaching and engaging as many graduates as possible. The winter edition of the newsletter included stories on the ODU capital campaign, chapter news, the upcoming Black Alumni Council Reunion, and sports and campus happenings.

Greek reunion, auction planned
Old Dominion has begun planning for a Greek reunion and auction in January 2006. The Alumni Association is working with local merchants and alumni across the country to secure numerous exciting auction packages.

Former fraternity and sorority members are invited to assist the planning and steering committee.
