Crouch, Pearson Get University Professor Title

William H. Crouch, chair of the Department of Information Technology and Decision Sciences, and Kathy Pearson, associate professor of history, were named recently as University Professors.

The designation, which recognizes outstanding teaching, carries a four-year, $2,500-per-year teaching and professional development stipend.

Crouch became department chair in 1998 and, under his leadership, information systems became the largest major in the College of Business and Public Administration. This semester he is teaching courses on Object-Oriented Programming with Java and Implementing Internet Applications.

Pearson has taught at ODU since 1994. This fall she is teaching courses on the High Middle Ages, Church and Society to 1417, and an honors course, Europe in a World Setting. She is the author of “Conflicting Loyalties in Early Medieval Bavaria.”
