Association Scholarship Established

Not long after she was installed last year as president of the Alumni Association, Kathryn M. Van Buren ’82 took the lead in establishing the Alumni Association Scholarship. Staked by her own
gift and the donations of fellow Alumni Association board members, the scholarship endowment currently reports gifts and pledges totaling $12,500, halfway to its original goal. Once it reaches the $25,000 level, income from the principal will be used to award an annual scholarship to a full-time undergraduate student with at least 24 credit hours.

The student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, demonstrated leadership skills, proven community volunteerism and a vision for leadership, as ascertained via an interview with alumni board members and a written essay on how higher education can prepare students for leadership in an increasingly complex global society.
