Board member John Cousins dies

John P. "Jack" Cousins, a recent appointee to Old Dominion's Board of Visitors, died Sept. 24. A resident of Virginia Beach, Cousins was appointed to the board by Gov. Jim Gilmore and had attended his first meetings on campus Sept. 13-14.

Cousins who had 26 years' experience in the construction industry, was the president and CEO of Cousins Industries in Portsmouth.

He was a former student at Old Dominion, where he took classes in political science. He also had studied commercial art at the Ringling School of Art.
