Governor releases funds for new building

Gov. Jim Gilmore announced Oct. 11 that he was releasing $12.8 million for Old Dominion to construct a long-planned Engineering and Computational Sciences Building.

The four-story facility will bring the university's programs and support services in aerospace engineering, math and computer sciences under one roof. In addition, it will house laboratory and support spaces, as well as the recently approved Center for Computational Sciences. It will be located between Webb Center and the Oceanography and Physics Building.

Construction will begin this spring with completion expected in fall 2003.
