Education dean among recent appointments

William H. Graves joined Old Dominion this summer as dean of the Darden College of Education, succeeding Donna Evans, who stepped down from the post in June 2000, and Jane Hager, who served as interim dean. Graves is the former dean of education and professor of counselor education and educational psychology at Mississippi State University.

The College of Arts and Letters also is under new leadership this year, following the resignation of Dean Karen Gould in August. Janet Katz, an associate dean of the college the past eight years, was appointed to serve as interim dean until the position is filled on a permanent basis.

Other recent administrative changes include the Aug. 1 appointment of David R. Hager as acting provost and vice president for academic affairs, succeeding Jo Ann Gora. An associate vice president in the office, Hager has worked at Old Dominion since 1969.

Robert F. Fenning was named vice president for administration and finance in September. An Old Dominion employee since 1996, Fenning had served as acting vice president for one year.
