Jeffrey P. Black '83
|
|
Nearly 17 years of sales, marketing, operations and general management experience have led Jeffrey P. Black '83 to his position as president of the Industrial Group of Teleflex Inc. He is responsible for Teleflex Fluid Systems, Capro and GFI Control Systems, all of which sell products in the automotive market. The company also manufactures and distributes products and services for the marine, industrial, medical and aerospace markets worldwide. Black lives in Maple Glenn, Pa.

Allen Cannon III '73

A former intelligence officer with the Central Intelligence Agency, Allen Cannon III '73 is a partner with the Perkins Coie law firm in Washington, D.C., where he specializes in the areas of government contacts, fraud and international contracting, the Freedom of Information Act, Service Contract Act, programs for small and disadvantaged businesses, internal investigations, and suspension and debarment issues. He is a guest lecturer at the George Washington University law School. |

W. Richard Conrad '70

As president of northeast area operations for Verizon Wireless, W. Richard Conrad '70 oversees company operations from Maine to Virginia for the nation's largest wireless communications provider. He began his career with Verizon in 1986, known then as Bell Atlantic Mobile, as a regional director in the Washington, D.C., area. He left in 1997 to become executive vice president and COO of PrimeCo Personal Communications, but returned to Bell Atlantic, by then renamed Verizon, in 2000. Conrad lives in Chester, N.J. |

Kenneth W. Dobbins (M.B. A. '79)

As the 17th president of Southeast Missouri State University, Kenneth W. Dobbins (M.B. A. '79) has overseen the creation of the School of Polytechnic Studies, development of the university's first strategic enrollment management plan and construction of a new higher education center. He previously held posts as vice president for finance and administration and director of development at SMSU, where he has worked for 19 years. Previously, Dobbins was at Kent State University. |

Harry A. Gard '62
|
|
Harry A. Gard '62 made working for peanuts a successful venture. From 1983 until his death in 2000, he was a member of the International Executive Service Corps, teaching Third World countries the process of growing and cleaning peanuts and manufacturing peanut butter. He also was the president of Jimbo's Jumbo Peanut Co. in Edenton, N.C. In 1998, Gard received a patent for cleaning and enhancing the appearance of "trash" peanuts. Gard is survived by his wife, Betty, of Edenton. |

Lt. Gen. Benjamin S. Griffin '69

Known as a motivator and role model by officers and enlisted men alike, Lt. Gen. Benjamin S. Griffin '69 has served in the U.S. Army since 1970. Prior to his current position as commanding general at Fort Hood in Texas, his assignments have included platoon leader, operations training staff officer, special assistant to the chief of staff and force programs director. Among his decorations are the Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Army Commendation Medal and Army Achievement Medal. |

As a senior vice president for Bank of America, Michael Pitchford '77 (M.P.A. '81) directs the real estate equity and the national account construction finance elements of the Community Banking Group. He also serves as chairman of the Banc of America Community Development Corp., overseeing the acquisition, building, rehabilitation and investments in low- and moderate-income housing and commercial real estate in 21 states and Washington, D.C. Pitchford, who joined the bank in 1982, lives in Charlotte, N.C. |

The president and CEO of Siemens Automotive, John Sanderson '79 (M.B.A. '81) is responsible for guiding the U.S. activities of this international company, a global supplier of automotive electronics. Under his direction, Siemens received Ford Motor Co.'s World Excellence Award for Recognition of Achievement in Warranty Reduction last year. Prior to taking on the role of president, Sanderson served as vice president and general manager. He lives in White Lake, Mich. |

Karen Weaver '84

In her 10 years with Brookfield Properties, Karen Weaver '84 quickly moved up the ladder, leading to her current status as senior vice president for operation services and chief financial officer for the commercial real estate company. In this position, she oversees all accounting and financial reporting, human resources, information systems and technical services. She previously served as senior vice president and CFO for Gentra Inc., a Brookfield subsidiary. Weaver lives in Toronto, Ontario. |
