Deford Delivers

Renowned sports writer, commentator and author Frank Deford holds forth during an informal talk with students on Sept. 25, the first of his two visits to campus last fall. Deford was scheduled to give his President’s Lecture Series address later that evening, but the talk was canceled due to inclement weather. He returned to Old Dominion on Oct. 23 and kept his audience enthralled and entertained with his wide-ranging insights on “Sports: The Hype and the Hoopla.” A commentator every Wednesday on National Public Radio’s “Morning Edition,” Deford is also a regular correspondent on the HBO show “RealSports With Bryant Gumbel” and a contributing writer at Sports Illustrated.
