Bookstore Goes Upscale
Old Dominion’s new bookstore at the corner of 45th Street and Monarch Way, which opened its revolving doors in December, represents pardon the pun a new chapter in the ongoing expansion of the University Village.
This impressive facility features approximately 20,000 titles, from bestsellers to children’s books. Taking the escalator to the second floor, one will find textbooks and an extensive line of ODU clothing and other Monarch merchandise. A Starbucks is expected to open on the first floor this summer.
The 3 1/2-story building, which also houses the university’s development offices, is owned by the ODU Real Estate Foundation; Follett Higher Education Group operates the bookstore.
The University Village Bookstore’s grand opening on Dec. 7 featured an appearance by author David Baldacci, who signed copies of his recent bestseller, “Stone Cold.”
