Team Leaders
Senior forward Valdas Vasylius and junior guard T.J. Jordan emerged early on as leaders of the ODU men’s and women’s basketball teams in 2006-07. With five games remaining on the Monarchs’ regular-season schedule, the 6-7 Vasylius, who hails from Lithuania by way of Norfolk Collegiate, was leading his team in scoring (15.2) and ranked second in rebounding (5.6). Many of his points came on tough-nosed plays near the basket, often against taller players, but he also proved to be a threat from the outside. He joined the ODU 1,000-point club during the 11th game of the season. With seven games left on the women’s regular-season slate, Jordan, one of the nation’s most prolific scorers from behind the 3-point arc (73 of 203), led the Lady Monarchs with a 15.5 average. A product of Portsmouth’s Wilson High School, she also was the team leader in playing time, averaging just under 32 minutes per game. The 5-8 Jordan broke the records for 3-pointers made and attempted in a game, which had been held by Aubrey Eblin ’99, when she hit 10 of 22 at Northeastern on Feb. 8.
