Russo Gets 600th Win As Head Basketball Coach

ODU alumna Cindy Russo ’75 became the 16th Division I women’s basketball coach to reach the 600-win plateau when her Florida International University Golden Panthers defeated Central Connecticut on Dec. 24. The win put Russo, a Portsmouth native, at 600-255 overall and 560-233 in 28 years at FIU.

Russo, who played for the Lady Monarchs from 1972-75, is in her 30th year as a head basketball coach. ODU Hall of Famer Inge Nissen ’80 is an associate coach with Russo.
