Women’s Soccer Players Make All-Region Team

Senior forward Laura Beeman, Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year for women’s soccer and CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was one of two Lady Monarchs named in December to www.SoccerBuzz.com’s All-Region team. Beeman, of Chalfont, Pa., was chosen for the first team, and was joined by senior defender Kim Snyder (third team).

Beeman, who was also named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s All-Mid-Atlantic second team, led the CAA in goals (16), points (35) and shots (78). A three-time All-CAA selection, she concluded her ODU career ranked second on the school’s career goals (37) and points (86) list.

Snyder, a graduate of Virginia Beach’s Tallwood High School, started all 19 games last season and contributed to a defense that allowed only 24 goals and a 1.27 goals against average.

Led by coach Joe Pereira, the Lady Monarchs finished the 2005 season with a 12-7-0 overall record, their best record since the 2000 season. They also qualified for the six-team CAA women’s soccer tournament.
