Construction Projects Include Hotel, Tennis Center

More changes are on the way for the campus landscape, including the addition of a SpringHill Suites Marriott, to be built between the Technology Building and the Ted Constant Convocation Center. The five-story, 120-room hotel, which will face Hampton Boulevard, is scheduled to open at year’s end. A parking garage is being built behind it.

Work has also begun on a student housing quad, to be located in front of the Health and Physical Education Building. The first of two residence facilities should be completed in October.

The H&PE Building, except for the aquatics center, will be demolished at the end of the spring 2006 semester to make way for a new recreational facility, scheduled to open in late fall 2007.

Construction of an eight-court indoor tennis center is expected to be completed by the end of this year, and site work has begun for a new Physical Science Building, to be completed in summer 2007.
