The Alumni Association sponsored “freshman send-off” picnics in August for a number of ODU’s newest students and their families. Events were held in Norfolk, Newport News, Richmond and Suffolk. Among those attending the event at the university’s Kornblau Alumni Center were Leslea Kuhrt, a graduate of Norfolk’s Maury High School. She was joined by her sisters and mother. Approximately 2,100 freshmen enrolled for the fall 2005 semester, one of the largest classes in school history.
