ODU Hires Alumnus As Government Relations Coordinator

James A. DeAngio, a 1993 Old Dominion graduate, was selected in July to serve as coordinator of governmental relations and assistant to the vice president for institutional advancement at his alma mater.

He will serve as ODU’s full-time liaison during General Assembly sessions in Richmond and represent the institution at other governmental meetings and hearings throughout the year.

In addition, DeAngio will help create strategies to position ODU’s legislative agenda and coordinate an effort to better communicate with elected officials from Hampton Roads cities and towns.

DeAngio, who earned a bachelor’s degree in English/journalism, served four years as district director for Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District. He has also worked at Norfolk Southern Corp. and served in the U.S. Navy.
