Chair submits to the designated department/school committee the teaching portfolio review materials for non-tenured faculty members in their second or subsequent year of service.

Chair submits the major evaluation file for Lecturers/Senior Lecturers to the designated department/school evaluation committee.

Requests for research or development assignments for the spring semester of the same academic year must be submitted to the Provost.

Dean submits pre-tenure review report to the Provost.  (Review is conducted during the spring of the third year of service for tenure-track faculty with no previous teaching experience and during the spring of the second year of service for tenure-track faculty with one or two years of previous teaching experience counted toward the probationary period.)

Chair conducts a secret ballot of all tenured faculty members in the department/school to select the nominees for University Professor designation and forwards to the Dean the names of the nominees who received a majority of the vote, including the votes.

Chair submits materials from non-tenured faculty members, who are in their second or subsequent year of services, to the department/school committee.

Last day to withdraw from Session 2 classes without instructor's signature - a grade of "W" will be assigned.

8 Chair submits the faculty member's application for conversion of a non-tenure eligible position to the department/school committee to tenure-eligible and appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.

Nomination for Eminent Scholar designation by any tenured department/school colleague in nominee's discipline submitted to Chair.

Classified staff performance evaluations are due to Human Resources.

Chair submits recommendations on conversion of a non-tenure eligible position to tenure eligible and appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor, together with all materials, to the college promotion and tenure committee.

Provost responds to faculty member concerning pre-tenure review evaluation, providing copies to the Dean.

Chair conducts secret ballot of all tenured members in department/school on the nomination for Eminent Scholar designation.

Faculty member submits promotion file to the Chair.

10 Last day to withdraw from Session 1 classes without instructor's signature - a grade of "W" will be assigned

Chair selects external reviewers and requests evaluations for faculty, appointed at mid-year, who will be reviewed for tenure.

Chair submits to the Dean an evaluation and recommendation concerning reappointment or non-recommendation of non-tenured faculty who are in their second or subsequent year of service to the dean, including all materials from the member, department/school committee recommendation and any additional relevant information, providing copies to the faculty member and department/school committee.

Chair reviews the Lecturer's major evaluation file and submits it and his/her recommendation to the Dean providing a copy of the recommendation to the faculty member.

Chair submits the faculty member's promotion file to the department/school committee.

Chair submits recommendation on promotion, together with all documents, to the Dean for review by the college committee, providing copies to the faculty member, and the department/school committee. 

Chair forwards to the Provost nomination(s) of tenured faculty for Eminent Scholar designation to the University Eminent Scholar committee upon affirmation by a majority of those votes to the Provost.

Chair submits material on a Lecturer seeking promotion to Senior Lecturer to the department/school promotion committee for review.

Last day to withdraw from classes with no grade or financial penalty

16-18 Martin Luther King Holiday - No Classes (Saturday - Monday)

Last day to designate a course for audit or pass/fail credit or exercise any other grade option.

Chair submits to the Dean an evaluation and recommendation concerning reappointment or non-reappointment of all first-year faculty members, including all materials from faculty member, department/school committee recommendation, and any additional relevant information, providing copies to the faculty member and to the department/school committee. 

Chair submits faculty member's tenure file, including external evaluations, to department/school committee.

12 Last day to withdraw from Session 2 classes

Chair and Dean evaluate credentials and submit independent evaluations and faculty member's file to the University Eminent Scholars committee via the Provost's office. 

Chair submits to the Dean recommendations on the promotion of Lecturer to Senior Lecturer, together with the faculty member's promotion file and department/school promotion committee's recommendation.

 

 March
 
1         

Chair submits recommendation on conversion of a non-tenure eligible position to tenure-eligible and appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor, together with all materials, to the college promotion and tenure committee.

Chair completes evaluation of tenured faculty members, providing copies to the Dean and the faculty member. Evaluation will comment on performance in teaching, research, and service and on the progress toward meeting individual goals resulting from previous evaluations.

Chair submits recommendations on tenure, with supporting documentation, to the Dean for review by the college committee. If either the department/school committee or the Chair or both are recommending tenure, provide a copy to the faculty member and to the Dean.

Chair advises the faculty member if neither the department/school committee nor the department/school committee recommends tenure, providing a copy to the Dean
