Welcome from the Provost

Welcome to the website of the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Old Dominion University. The Provost is the chief academic officer of the University, with financial and management responsibility for ODU's academic offerings. The Provost works closely with the President and other Vice Presidents to set the academic priorities for the University and implement strategies for success.
The Provost's office has responsibility for all academic affairs on ODU's main campus in Norfolk, and at ODU's several Higher Education Centers in Virginia, as well as at our numerous TELETECHNET and military sites around the country. The responsibilities of the office include, but are not limited to: insuring the quality of undergraduate and graduate educational programs, both on campus and via on-line delivery; provision of institutional research and assessment data to accrediting and oversight agencies; development and allocation of adequate resources for the success of ODU's academic mission; management of faculty and academic support staff personnel; development and delivery of quality Distance Learning programs; and the university library. The administrative faculty and staff of Academic Affairs work in close co-operation with ODU's Office of Research to support the successful operation of research programs, and with ODU's Faculty Senate to ensure a rigorous, yet flexible and creative educational environment that benefits students and faculty alike. This site is designed to be a resource for faculty, staff, and students who need to access information on ODU's academic policies and procedures, copies of which are available from our links.
We hope that you find this site useful and welcome suggestions for improvements. Thank you for your interest in Old Dominion University
Best wishes,
Carol Simpson
