LEADERSHIP LECTURE SERIES SPRING 2014

<p> <strong>Change Agents: Shaping a Better World Today</strong></p> <p> <strong><em>Wednesday, April 2</em></strong><em>, 12:00 pm Hampton Newport News Rooms</em></p> <p> Mr. Staton the CEO and founder of the Helpers will Help&nbsp; (<a href="mailto:thehelpersceo@thehelperswillhelp.org">thehelpersceo@thehelperswillhelp.org</a>)</p> <p> Dr. Eddie Hill, Assistant Professor in the Park, Recreation and Tourism Studies program.</p> <p> <strong>Maria Fornella-Oehninger, Adjunct Professor, Dept of Political Science and Geography</strong></p> <p> Ed Bradley, Social Activist.&nbsp;</p> <p> Worked with truant teenagers, and started a program through the Norfolk Court system where they took youngsters on camping trips to the Blue Ridge Mountains.&nbsp; Ed also began a program with teenagers at the Norfolk Botanical gardens, where teens learned about horticulture from Ed.&nbsp;&nbsp; Ed again saw the positive experience that nature has on troubled teens.&nbsp; ED was instrumental in starting ODU&rsquo;s Tree Trail.</p> <p> This session explores concepts of <em>social entrepreneurship</em> and<em> entrepreneurship</em> as a means to empowering individuals to realize their potential to make meaningful contributions to society. We will discuss how personal experiences, passions and strengths can be used as guides to success, well-being and lasting fulfillment.</p>
