<p> &nbsp;</p> <p> Dr. Keith D. Dickson Book Reading and Signing</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> The Friends of the Old Dominion University Libraries will sponsor a book reading and signing by Dr. Keith D. Dickson, Professor of Military Studies at the Joint Forces Staff College on Tuesday, November 19 from 12:30-1:30 p.m.&nbsp; at the University Village Bookstore, Dr. Dickson will read from his most recent book, Sustaining Southern Identity: Douglas Southall Freeman and Memory in the Modern South, which won the 2012 Richard Slatten Award for Excellence in Biography from the Virginia Historical Society.&nbsp; Dr. Dickson will sign copies of the book following the reading and discussion.&nbsp;</p> <p> Dr. Keith D. Dickson is a Professor of Military Studies at the Joint Forces Staff College and is also an adjunct professor in the Department of History at Old Dominion University.&nbsp; Prior to his academic career, Dr. Dickson served in the U.S. Army, the CIA, and as Commandant of Cadets at Virginia Military Institute.&nbsp; Following his retirement, he served as a Special Forces officer in the U.S. Army Reserve.&nbsp;&nbsp; Dr. Dickson received his Ph.D. in History from the University of Virginia in 1998 and also authored World War II for Dummies, The Civil War for Dummies, and World War II Almanac (Facts on File Library of American History).</p> <p> Light refreshments will be served.&nbsp; This event is free and open to all members of the campus community.</p>
