Globalization has dramatically increased competition among the planet’s enterprises.  The quality of products and services has dramatically improved while prices have plummeted. Consumer expectations have risen to very high levels.  Innovation drives new product development, customer acceptance, loyalty and organizational vitality. Entrepreneurship, innovation, and intrapreneurship have accelerated the need for large technical enterprises to become more thoughtful, more agile, more flexible and more responsive to consumer demands.   In addition, the expansion of communications technology and social media allow many people across the world access to markets and create businesses.

Government agencies are not exempt from this trend:  U.S. Government agencies are now required to establish strategic plans for their enterprises, to develop business plans that illustrate the future directions of the enterprise, and to define the resources required to realize the vision and strategy of the enterprise.

This workshop will briefly address the characteristics of the entrepreneur, the myths surrounding entrepreneurship and some thoughts and discussion about the pitfalls and enablers the entrepreneurs face.
