Board of Education in Topeka, Kansas</em> decision from the U. S. Supreme Court, and this talk by Dr. Charles H. Ford, Professor and Chair of the Department of History at Norfolk State University, will reflect upon the triumphs and tragedies stemming from its deliberately gradual implementation.&nbsp; Ford will draw upon the detailed research in his co-authored recent book, <em>Elusive Equality: Desegregation and Resegregation in Norfolk&#39;s Public Schools </em>from the University of Virginia Press, to show how and why public school desegregation was such a drawn-out, contested affair, which was abandoned right after the brief moment that it had started to show results.&nbsp; A book signing for <em>Elusive Equality</em> will immediately follow the talk.</p> <p align="center"> &nbsp;</p> <p align="center"> For more information: Office of Intercultural Relations 757-683-4405 or <a href="mailto:oir@odu.edu">oir@odu.edu</a></p>
