Support ODU's first Feature Film Production

The Ballerina is a Psychological Thriller about a father, Glenn, who is determined to rescue his young daughter, Sophia, from frightening and tormenting apparitions. Reeling from a devastating personal tragedy, Glenn struggles to stitch the pieces of their lives back together in a homeless tent-village deep in the Appalachian woods. For Sophia, this tragedy brings upon severe night terrors and hallucinations of ghostly figures and Glenn is at his wit's end as to how to help her. He turns in every possible direction: psychiatry, hypnosis, priests and séances, even mediums to help her. But it isn't until he is brought face to face with himself and his own catastrophic mistakes, that he finds the solution to his little girl's nightmares.

“The Ballerina” is ODU’s first venture into the world of feature filmmaking. Writer / Director (and Chair of Communication & Theatre Arts) Stephen Pullen will take us on this journey, and David Mallin, the Film Program Director, will be the Cinematographer and a Producer. The COMM/THEA 495 class “Feature Film Workshop” currently is heavily involved in the film’s pre-production, and will be participating on set as crew members, as will this semester’s COMM/THEA 385 Cinematography class, and a number of other members of the ODU Faculty, Alumni, and Student community.

This project is already raising the profile of Film at ODU in Hampton Roads and beyond.
