Old Dominion University Theatre will close its spring 2013 season with a new take on a classic favorite, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

Performances will be held at 8 p.m. April 18, 19, and 20, at the Goode Theatre.

“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is directed by Chris Hanna is an Associate Professor of Theatre at ODU and it the current Artistic Director of the Virginia Stage Company.  He has over thirty years of theatre experience and has directed over thirty performances at the two institutions and has provided artistic guidance to almost one hundred shows

“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is sure to delight all with love, lust, and adventure! Shakespeare  introduced the tumultuous love lives and restricting social rules, but ODU is revamping the tale!  The Victorian court is shifted to a classic cruise ship and will change the rules of the traditional forest.  Hermia is resistant to the romantic life that’s set before her and tries to flee from it for the one of her choosing.  Her rejected beau trails the forbidden duo in hot pursuit, but the adventure escalates when some mischievous and meddlesome characters have their own surprises.  Experience the tangled web of romance and intrigue in a new vivid setting! A show preview can be watched on the Theatre homepage at www.odu.edu/al/theatre.
