Developing Progressions
Remember that the secret to good progressions is to adhere
to
the principles of the Chord Classification System.
Normal progression is the primary goal. Of course, this does not
mean that retrogression or elision must never occur. What you
want
to remember is that immediately following a retrogression or elision
(even
when this occurs as a common deviation), normal progression
should
once again be the order. To become adept at choosing the better
chords,
one only needs to practice the procedure. Thus, the assignment
above.
Go back to mod 38 to review the steps for
developing
a good progression with a given soprano line.
