Developing Progressions

Remember that the secret to good progressions is to adhere to the principles of the Chord Classification System. Normal progression is the primary goal.  Of course, this does not mean that retrogression or elision must never occur.  What you want to remember is that immediately following a retrogression or elision (even when this occurs as a common deviation), normal progression should once again be the order.  To become adept at choosing the better chords, one only needs to practice the procedure.  Thus, the assignment above. Go back to mod 38 to review the steps for developing a good progression with a given soprano line.
