Annually
the Theatre Arts Program awards several $500-1000.00 scholarships
to theatre majors who demonstate through audition or portfolio outstanding
achievement in academics and artistry in the Theatre Arts Program
at ODU.
The
scholarship auditions, held annually in the Fall Semester, are adjudicated
by the Theatre Arts Program faculty and professionals from the Hampton
Roads region.

GUIDELINES
FOR COMPETITION:
For
students competing as directors and designers: present a two page
written statement, outlining your talents, craft development, and
plans within your selected field. Include documentation of previous
accomplishment, arranged as professional portfolio ( designers)
, or production workscripts ( directors).
For students competing through general service to the Theatre
Program: present a two page written statement outlining the ways
in which you have volunteered your time and energies on behalf of
the production season, also describing your current involvement.
For students competing as actors: prepare two contrasting one
minute monologues, neither of which has been previously awarded
through past scholarship competitions at ODU, and present a professional
actor’s resume at the audition
SCHOLARSHIP
AWARDS
Each
winner will be will receive $500-1,000.00, which will be divided
between the Fall and Spring semesters, dependent on the student's
continued participation in the production season.
Runners up will also be appointed, in case any students are unable
to continue their participation throughout the year.
( ODU will use these funds against balances for any winning
students who hold outstanding accounts with the University
)

Craft your pieces carefully. Standards will be professionally oriented
and, except for service awards, decisions will be based solely
