I am proud to announce the publication of my
new co-edited collection (with Gary Edgerton),
THE ESSENTIAL HBO READER, through the University Press of Kentucky.

	I have penned chapters on HBO's comedy talk shows (Chris Rock Show, Real Time with Bill Maher, and Dennis Miller Live), Erotica (Taxi Cab Confess-ions and Real Sex), and HBO's on-going legacy. Please check them out, along with numerous other contributions by a "dream team" of TV Studies scholars.

In 2005, Rowman & Littlefield released my book on political entertainment television, ENTERTAINING POLITICS: NEW POLITICAL TELEVISION AND CIVIC CULTURE

This book examines new political enter-tainment talk shows on television, including Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and Dennis Miller Live. Arguing against the belief that humorous forms of television hurt demo-cracy, the book shows how such programming provides new and important avenues for civic participation in public life.
