Students may elect to obtain a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication with Honor’s (distinction with Honors appears on one’s diploma and also appears on one’s transcripts) by fulfilling all of the following criteria:

1. Minimum of GPA in the major of 3.5, and a minimum overall GPA of 3.25.

2. Two of the upper level courses in the major must be taken as “Honors” courses. This involves entering into a written contract (forms may be obtained from the Honor’s College Office, Education Building, Room 218) between the student and the professor to complete additional academic work for the course worthy of the title “Honors”.

3. Once eligible (typically the junior or senior year), maintain membership in the Communication Honor Society, Lambda Pi Eta.

4. One of the following options:

• Maintain office (President, Vice-President, Secretary, or Treasurer) of the
  Communication Club or Lambda Pi Eta for a minimum of one year.
• Complete two activity credits in forensics: debate or speech events.
• Serve as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant in COMM 200S or in one of
  the Teletechnet courses.
• Assist one of the Communication Faculty with one or more research projects
  related to one’s area of interest for a minimum of 30 hours.
• Peer tutoring (e.g., public speaking, research methods) for a minimum of 30
  hours.
• Or some other approved departmental service option.
