Art in Science Curriculum & Unit Tasks Introduction

  • This model divides a curriculum unit into five phases: engagement, exploration, explanation, elaboration, and evaluation. The goal of each of these phases is defined below:

    Engagement: provide focus; get excited!

    Exploration: explore materials

    Explanation: make sense of experience(s) with concepts via student interactions accompanied by contributions from teacher

    Elaboration: apply concepts and experiences during previous steps

    Evaluation: assess conceptual understanding, skill mastery, etc.
