CRIME STATISTICS

In accordance with the federal Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act, 20 U.S.C. § 1092(f)(1)(I) (2002), the University is required to inform the campus community of where law enforcement agency information concerning any known registered sex offenders who are enrolled or employed at Old Dominion University may be obtained. If such information has been provided to the University by the Virginia State Police, it may be obtained by clicking on the button marked "Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act Information" located on the left tool bar.

We compile monthly and forward Incident-Based crime reports to the Virginia State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Information on crimes that may affect or relate the surrounding community is shared directly with the appropriate law enforcement agencies. In situations where students are involved in violations of University policies and/or Commonwealth statues, we can pursue both internal administrative and external criminal charges. The Vice President for Student Student Affairs will initiate internal disciplinary proceedings according to the University judicial code for violators who are members of the University.

Crime statistics and information are available to the University community through the Police Department's website and the student-run "Mace and Crown" newspaper. We distribute Crime Bulletins to the University community when incidents dictate this means of information distribution.

University Police also maintain crime statistics for off-campus student organizations. Norfolk Police supply these statistics regularly. In addition, Old Dominion cooperates with other universities and colleges in the sharing of information regarding students who may become involved in criminal and/or other prohibited activities.
