On a reservation basis, the Office of Training & Development has self-development resource materials available to borrow for your own professional development or for use in enhancing the skills of your staff. It's a great way to start a staff meeting and learn at the same time!

  • Current literature, including books and periodicals on various topics

Resources may be borrowed for a maximum of ten (10) working days or may be previewed at our office. To borrow resources, employees are asked to pick-up and return materials in person Monday through Friday (8am-4pm). Resources will not be mailed. Please call 683-5139 for more information.

Tuition Assistance...

Educational Assistance is available for classified employees who have been employed by Old Dominion University for one year. Scholarships are also available for full-time classified employees' spouses and dependents. The Department of Human Resources will pay for a maximum of 15 credit hours for the year - six credit hours in the fall, six credit hours in the spring and three credit hours in the summer.

Educational Assistance is available for part-time classified and hourly employees with three years of service to the University. Scholarships are available for part-time classified and hourly employees' spouses and dependents. The Department of Human Resources will pay a prorated amount of the above benefit, based on the number of hours worked during a 40-hour week.

Scholarships are available for faculty and faculty administrators who have been employed full-time by the University for one full year (nine credit hours per year) and their dependents and spouses (three credit hours in the fall, spring and summer).

The salary cap for participation in these programs is $75,000 per year.

Tuition assistance for graduate level courses for dependents and spouses may be considered as taxable income.

Receiving tuition assistance from the Department of Human Resources may affect any other financial aid award a student may receive.

Funds are available on a seniority basis and may be limited.

Deadlines for applications to be received by the Department of Human Resources are:

Summer 2008 by May 1, 2008
Fall 2008 by August 1, 2008
