Financial Aid Clock Stoppers
While Financial Aid is a complex process involving many people and agencies, the Financial Aid Office tries to make it a smooth one for students. These are some of the barriers that require the student's help to resolve:
1.) Late Application
- Filed after February 15th.
2.) Student Not Admitted, or Enrollment Status Change
3.) Documents Requested for Verification Not Received
4.) Incorrect, Discrepant or Estimated Information on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Social Security Account Number (no match)
- Address and telephone number
- Missing signature
5.) Enrolled in Special Programs- students are encouraged to inform their counseling team if enrolled in special programs such as:
- Interdisciplinary Studies Program (IDS) (Bachelors & Masters combined)
- Teacher Certification
- English as a Second Language
- VA Consortium for Professional Psychology (PsyD)
- Consortium
- TELETECHNET
- Dual Degree
- Eastern Virginia Medical School and DePaul Hospital Programs
- Study Abroad
- Physical Therapy
- Academic Skills
6.) Division Conflict
- Graduate vs undergraduate (improperly registered)
7.) Late Notification of Institutional and External Aid
- Music Activities Scholarships
- Outside Agency Awards
- Contracts and Waivers
- ROTC
- Room Scholarships
- Veterans Administration Vocational Rehabilitation
- Third Party Payors (i.e., Local School Board)
8.) Special or Extenuating Circumstances for Professional Judgments Financial aid administrators may exercise individual professional judgment concerning adjustments to data affecting a students eligibility for aid.
- Dependency Override
- Change in status due to death, divorce, or illness
- Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal
- Budget Adjustments
- Significant Change in Income
- Exorbitant Medical Bills
