This is the official site for tuition rates. The University term "tuition" refers to a comprehensive fee (the per credit hour rate) which includes payment for instructional programs, academic services, student services and activities, recreational sports, and inter-collegiate athletics. Old Dominion University's tuition rate is determined on a per credit basis. The information below references only the 2002-2003 academic year.

Effective Spring Semester 2003, a tuition surcharge of $12.00 per credit hour will be assessed to all students. New Rates for 2003-2004 to be announced in April 2003.

Tuition rate for students enrolled in Distance Learning / TELETECHNET courses in other locations outside of the Commonwealth of Virginia. $150.00 (per credit hour) + a tuition surcharge of $12.00 per credit hour for Spring Semester, 2003. $250.00 (per credit hour) + a tuition surcharge of $12.00 per credit hour for Spring Semester, 2003.
Note: Students who relocate to Virginia are not guaranteed this rate. Normal domicile rules apply.

Selected Mandatory Fees

General Services Fee - $8.00 All students pay this fee each semester, regardless of the number of classes taken. This fee replaced the graduation fee, drop fees (per course), reinstatement fees, matriculation fees, and the University Catalog fee. Mandatory - Fees applicable to all students regardless of domiciliary classification. The fee is not subject to waivers.
Student Health Fee - $47.00
Summer optional
Student Health Fee is mandatory for full-time students.
Undergraduate students taking 12 or more credit hours must pay this fee each semester. Graduate students taking 9 or more credit hours must pay this fee each semester. The fee is not charged for students taking off-campus courses, if any courses are on-campus, then the fee is mandatory.
Mandatory - Fees applicable to all students unless otherwise noted. The fee is optional for part-time students. The fee is not subject to waivers.

It is also optional in the summer.
Transportation Fee - $22.00 The transportation fee is paid once each semester by all students. However, no fee is charged during the summer term. The fee is not charged for students taking off-campus courses, if any courses are on-campus, then the transportation fee is mandatory. Mandatory - Fees applicable to all students, including those enrolled in student teaching, dissertation, theses, and GRAD 999 unless otherwise noted.

This fee is not charged in the summer.
