Dean Oktay Baysal of Old Dominion University's Frank Batten College of Engineering and Technology, has made three appointments to the College's Advisory Board.

The appointments are for the Spring 2014, and are for a two-year term.

• Deborah Lohmeier is district director of Burgess & Niple's Virginia Beach office, and a vice president of the company. She is responsible for overseeing office operations, as well as architectural and engineering teams for projects by private developers, commercial, state and federal agencies, and the Department of Defense. Lohmeier obtained her BS in mechanical engineering from Old Dominion University in 1993, and is a registered Professional Engineer. Lohmeier is a native of Hampton Roads and resides in Suffolk, where her husband David owns and operates an architectural firm.
• Robert (Rus) Hayslett, Jr., is Director of Operations, Compliance and System Integrity with Virginia Natural Gas. He directs the daily business and operations leading to safe and reliable operation and monitoring of Virginia's natural gas system. Hayslett holds a BS of Civil Engineering Technology, with a minor in engineering management, from Old Dominion University.
• Clayton Turner is Director of the Engineering Directorate at NASA Langley Research Center, responsible for the design and development of ground and flight systems in all NASA mission areas, and for enabling future and maintaining current multi discipline engineering capabilities aligned to meet NASA mission needs. Turner started at NASA Langley in 1990 as a design engineer, where he spearheaded the development of the laser aligning, bore-site limit system. Throughout his career, Turner has received awards such as the NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal, the NASA Exceptional Engineering Achievement Medal, the NASA Exceptional Service Medal, and the Paul F. Holloway Non-Aerospace Technology Transfer Award.

The ODU Engineering Advisory Board is a volunteer body that provides guidance and oversight to the College for its academic, outreach, governance and fund-raising efforts.

The Frank Batten College of Engineering and Technology promotes the advancement of engineering knowledge, both in creation and dissemination, by providing successful graduates and a continuously improving learning environment to its constituents, while maintaining high ethical, multicultural and global standards.
