Volunteers Needed for Adopt-a-Stream Cleanup on April 24

Join your fellow faculty, staff and students in a cleanup of the Lafayette and Elizabeth rivers on Thursday, April 24. Old Dominion has adopted, through the commonwealth of Virginia's Adopt-a-Stream Program, the portion of the Lafayette River shoreline that lies behind Rogers Hall and along 49th Street, and the Elizabeth River shoreline behind Whitehurst Hall and Sailing Center. This is an excellent opportunity to participate in an activity that benefits the environment.

Employees should obtain authorization from their supervisor to attend and may use community service leave to take part in this activity, which is sponsored by ODU's Office of Environmental Health and Safety.

The cleanup along the Elizabeth River will begin at 11 a.m.; meet at the gazebo behind Whitehurst Hall. The Lafayette River cleanup starts at 1:30 p.m.; meet in Roger Hall Parking Lot 11.

To take part in either cleanup activity, register online at http://www.odu.edu/forms_admin/viewform.php?formid=3878.

Participants should wear old clothes, including long-sleeve shirt, long pants and old sneakers or boots (you may get dirty, especially below your knees - no open-toed shoes). Gloves and disposable shoe covers will be provided.
