Works in Progress Conference This Saturday Features Feminist Scholarship

The women's studies department is sponsoring Works in Progress on Saturday, April 5, a regional interdisciplinary conference highlighting feminist scholarship.

The free conference, which will take place in the Batten Arts and Letters Building, starts at 8:30 a.m. with registration and breakfast in the lobby. The conference welcome is scheduled for 9 a.m., and various conference sessions will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. in various rooms on the third floor. The closing reception will be from 4-5 p.m. in 9024 BAL.

This is a non-juried conference; a call for proposals went out earlier this year, inviting anyone whose research deals with women, gender and/or sexuality to submit a proposal for placement on one of the panels.

As noted on a conference flier: "This conference is a good place to try something new or to share a completed paper (or piece of creative writing) that colleagues in other disciplines or other universities in the area have not had a chance to hear. It will also provide a supportive setting for novice researchers to give papers."
