Education Faculty Members Publish Textbook: 'Retailing and E-tailing'
Two faculty members from the STEM education and professional studies department in the Darden College of Education have published a textbook, "Retailing and E-tailing," which introduces students to the important concepts involved in operating a retail business.
The book, by Mickey Kosloski, assistant professor, and Sharon Davis, senior lecturer, is published by Goodheart-Willcox Publisher.
"Retail is all around us, and it has changed in the 21st century," a synopsis on the publisher's website states. "This text focuses on the specifics of e-tailing and how e-tail differs from brick-and-mortar stores. Retail operations, merchandising, marketing, management, customer service, and selling are topics covered in this text. In addition, retail and e-tail in the new global market is covered."
The book includes:
- Coverage of the four Ps of marketing lay the foundation for retail and e-tail business activities.
- Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts of reading, writing, speaking and listening are incorporated in end-of-chapter activities.
- Ethics are discussed for greater understanding of the retail business world.
- Creating an e-tail website is illustrated.
- A math appendix with retail content provides a reference for basic mathematical operations needed in the retail business.
